Ken started playing guitar at 14 and immediately began performing in his own rock band. He started playing professionally on weekends through high school and toured full time upon graduating. At 21, having been self taught for seven years, he decided to pursue classical guitar and continued studying until he achieved his Gr. X through the Royal Conservatory of Music. During this period, Ken received two Fredrick Harris scholarships, for twice having attained the highest marks for performance in Saskatchewan.

After working with a number of bands, studying at the University of Regina (Bus.Admin./Computer Science), and teaching at a local music store, Ken moved to Boston to attend Berklee College of Music. He moved back to Regina to teach at the Professional Musician's College where he designed the curriculum for the guitar department, and began playing and singing with the country rock band Black Jack. Since then he has been a side man for Stephanie Thomson, Roy Clayborn, Ronnie Profit, Gordie Tapp, Bo Diddley, The Jordanaires, Ritch Little, Petula Clark, Steve Fox, Rick Tippe, Sheila Deck, Thomas Wade, The Poverty Plainsmen, Faster Gun, Melanie Laine, Brad Johner, Tracey James, Rory Allen, and Tera Lee Flaman, to name a few, and has played in the CTV produced Kinsmen Telemiracle pit band for Gowan, Valdy, Tom Jackson, Bobby Curtola, Colin James, Joan Kennedy, Gloria Loring, and Bob McGrath. Ken has also played in the pit bands for Applause Dinner Theater, CKRM vocal contest, Sask. Country Music Awards, Sask. Motion Picture Awards, and the CBC-produced Francothon, Gala Fransaskois de La Chanson and Chant' Ouest.

Ken has 20 years of experience teaching private and group lessons and has done numerous clinics for music stores and schools, one highlight being a Long & McQuade sponsored clinic with Dom Famularo, drum clinician extraordinaire. He currently operates his own teaching business out of his home with an enrolment of 50 students as well as teaches guitar for the the University of Regina's Music Education program.
